Part-Time Research Fellows

Target Candidates: Scholars and experts holding primary positions at universities, research institutions, or industry.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Conduct independent or collaborative research projects, producing policy briefs or academic papers.
    • Participate in SMRC’s academic seminars and policy roundtables.
    • Provide professional support and consultation in their research areas.
  • Qualifications:
    • Ph.D. or equivalent research experience.
    • Research experience in international relations, political science, economics, technology policy, human rights, or regional studies.
    • Ability to independently conduct policy research and writing.

Full-Time Research Fellows

Target Candidates: Early-career scholars and professional researchers interested in combining academic research with policy analysis.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Conduct independent research and collaborate within teams, producing research reports and policy briefs.
    • Participate in international collaborative projects to promote interdisciplinary research.
    • Assist in organizing seminars, the annual forum, and external engagements.
  • Qualifications:
    • Ph.D. (or advanced Ph.D. candidates; outstanding master’s degree holders may also be considered).
    • Expertise in at least one core research area: Global Security, Technology & the Future, Human Rights & Society, Economy & Sustainability, or Regional Studies.
    • Strong English writing skills with the ability to publish in international journals or policy outlets.

Internships

Target Candidates: Undergraduate or master’s students interested in international affairs and policy research.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Assist research teams with data collection, analysis, and research support.
    • Support event organization, draft meeting notes, and assist with publication editing.
    • Provide general administrative and project assistance.
  • Qualifications:
    • Enrolled in relevant fields such as International Relations, Public Policy, Sociology, Economics, or Technology Policy.
    • Proficient in English reading and writing, with basic research and writing skills.
    • Available at least 10 hours per week (online or on-site).
